Through this ministry Providence is able to offer professional counseling for individuals, couples, families, and groups. This ministry is open to all, members and any in the community who find themselves in emotional, relational need, difficult or abusive situations or struggling with addictive behaviors. The goal of the Counseling Center is to provide:

  • a loving concern and care for people in a  confidential environment where they can work and sense God at work in them
  • open avenues for personal and relational healing
  • a proactive ministry for emotional wellness
  • a place where people can share their stories of hurt, pain, loss, conflict, sorrow, confusion and guilt with professionally trained counselors who offer care through the love of Christ

The  Counseling Center is run by Ray Ball who holds a MA in Counseling and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Ray has 22 years of counseling experience in both the US and Australia.
Also working with Ray are:  Wendy Pocock who has a MA in Christian Counseling, Melissa Beck and Michele Martin.

Spiritual Direction

Once a month, Rev. Cathie Powell from the Anchorage Ministry of Spiritual Direction and Growth comes to Providence to offer Spiritual Direction. This is a ministry of growing in relation with God to more consciously and vividly experience His presence in one' life. A Spiritual Director, such as Cathie, will nurture, question and offer suggestions to help a person deepen their relationship with God. This ministry is available by appointment and is fee based, but again,fees can be adjusted according to need. Call the church office to make appointments.
